Guest guest
very well put!! - GeminiDragon Monday, July 11, 2005 1:24 PM Re: Food Respect ... I say don't make a big deal out of it. There will always be a conflict of interests and it's not worth trying to argue. I do what's best for me and I always help if anyone has questions or wants advice on being a vegetarian. Most of the time meat eaters become curious if you don't push or argue or make smart remarks. You would be shocked at how many I have converted over the years by offering a taste of this or a taste or that or passing a recipe off when they give me a compliment. We will never agree on politics, nor be the same religion or even eat the same foods. That's the way I see it but that's just me...............Donna
Guest guest
they may just that their entire life... however I wholeheartedly agree with Donna... My hubby works with many meat eaters.. and he and I went veg 12 years ago. He is always polite about it, and never forces his opinion, but is happy to answer any questions, or offer books et cetera to those that are interested. he's had to deal with people saying, " go ahead, have some _____< we won't tell Jenni " .. as If his diet is something I forced on him.. which is funny too because he was the first to suggest it! He planned to go vegetarian for one year, sort of as an experiment to see if he still felt healthy at the end of the year.. we never looked back! anyway.. my point (and i do have one) .. is that there are many times he wants to tell them all to shut up... and one of the guys he works with (Eddie) who was always teasing him about his diet.. .well... Eddie went veg and then later came to him and apologized profusely. He said that he never realized what a jerk he was, or how inconsiderate people can be. Yeah, my sister is always offering me food that she's cooked, or has ready to make, saying " it's probably not even real meat. " Once I replied, " yeah, I'm not in the mood for lips and tongues either. " I'm so fed up with her lack of support for my life choices. It's really gotten bad now that I'm pregnant. She doesn't even support our choice of where we want to have the baby (NOT at the local hospital). So, since I'm having to eat quite often now I have found that I just don't hang out with her as much. What a shame.
