Would you believe I bought a jar of the tandoori malsala today at Trader Joe's and I dropped it out of the bag when I got home and the glass cracked! I was so upset. I also bought some Indian bread and was planning on having some of the malsala on the bread....that's what I get for being klutzy....lol Thanks for this recipe. I can't wait to make it. Guest guest
Here's a recipe I make a lot in Germany. It's from one of my cookbooks that I bought from the local bookstore. I hope I get the measurement conversions correct-I'm used to metric! Tandoori-Bratkartoffeln (Tandoori Fried Potatoes) 4 servings 800g (28 oz?) potatoes (about 12 medium sized) 2 TL (tsp) sesame seeds 2 EL (equal to about 2 tablespoons) Oil 2 EL (2 TBSP) Butter salt/pepper (to taste) 2 TL (tsp) tandoori masala (can be found at asian markets) Time: 40 min (plus cooling time) Per Portion: about 220 cal (1) Boil potatoes for 30 min. Let cool. (2) roast sesame seeds in a pan, until the scent is strong (about 2 min). Peel potatoes and cut into cubes. (3) Heat oil and butter in a pan. Cook potato cubes in pan (about 15 min). Salt, pepper and sprinkle tandoori masala and sesame on top. -------------------------------- Use the tandoori to your taste...its a little spicy. And of course use whatever you like to prepare your pan if you don't use butter-I just copied it directly from the recipe book. Makes a great side dish or if you want to eat a true German dish, cook this up and serve it with 2 fried eggs (or non-ovo/vegan equivalent) and a cucumber salad (for recipes, let me know). Hope you like the recipe as much as I do, it's my first recipe post!
Guest guest
Hi, I'd really like some of those German Recipes.... I actually have German in me but never learned to cook anything other than meat dishes from the German side. I remember eating cucmbers with thinly sliced onions salt and pepper and some vinegar. I don't know where this came from but it was good! You can contact me privaetly if you like. My maiden name is Bertelsman. I really like simple, easy dishes. The male side of the family isn't crazy about substituting meat for things like Tofu and Temph etc. He'd rather just have filling dishes and not try to replace the meat. Thanks! Guest guest
Can someone tell me what Tandoori Marsala is please? If it " aint " found locally then I'm probably in the dark about it cause we'uns live out here in the sticks! LOL Robin
Guest guest
Sure! I don't know if its in regular grocery stores or not as I dont live in the US and dont know, but its worth a check! If not it is found in asian markets/stores. It is an indian spice, made up of very small deep red granules. If you do an image search on whatever search site you use (, google) you can find some good pictures of what it looks like. Over here I buy it in small plastic bags at the asian market but apparently you guys have it in glass containers too, according to a previous post. If you can't find it, garam masala might work too. And if you don't want to go searching forever for it, just make your own spicy combo from whatever you like from your kitchen-a curry mix would be good too I think. , " Whittington5 " <critters> wrote: > Can someone tell me what Tandoori Marsala is please? > If it " aint " found locally then I'm probably in the dark about it cause we'uns live out here in the sticks!
