Homemade Rehydration Drink (recipe)

I asked for a rehydration recipe awhile back. Here is what I searched for

and found. This tastes nasty as heck but I add lemon juice and ice and that

helps it to only taste " nasty " without the " heck " . When I'm working out,

lifting weights or working around the house in the hot sun, I tend to gulp

it down though (no sipping with the pinky out), so I don't mind as much. As

well, I've discovered that gatorade makes their drink in a powder form (that

you, yourself mix with water). This not only is much cheaper but saves on

the waste (recycling points) of all those plastic containers (not to mention

lugging all of them home).

This recipe is a cheap alternative.

" You can make an inexpensive homemade rehydration drink. Measure all

ingredients precisely. Small variations can make the drink less effective or

even harmful. "

Mix:

1 quart (950 ml) water

½ teaspoon (2.5 g) baking soda

½ teaspoon (2.5 g) table salt

3 to 4 tablespoons (45 to 60 g) sugar

If available, add ¼ teaspoon (1.25 g) salt substitute, such as " Lite Salt " .
