Strictly speaking, he's right. heme iron (found in animal flesh) is

easier for the body to absorb. non-heme iron (found in plant foods)

is more difficult for the body to absorb. However, as others have

mentioned, using Vitamin C, and cooking plant-based iron-rich foods

with acidic foods (think tomatoes) will increase the absorption rate.

And start cooking in cast iron pans, especially the acidic foods.

Iron will get in your food and help you. You do not need meat to get

enough iron...

Thanks for the advice...I do have several cast iron pans. I haven't used them

in a while but I will.
