However, as others have mentioned, using Vitamin C, and cooking plant-based iron-rich foods with acidic foods (think tomatoes) will increase the absorption rate. And start cooking in cast iron pans, especially the acidic foods. Iron will get in your food and help you. You do not need meat to get enough iron...
