Guest guest
Speaking of meat cravings... I was having the worst one when there was this plate of pepperoni on the table, even though I haven't had them before and have been meat-free for a year and a half now. I succumbed to the craving and ate a piece. Which is terrible, I know, but actually it was so disgusting and tasted soo... fleshy, I spit it out right away. No more cravings for me! I feel much better after actually saying that. Elisa J Lyn <poet_atrabilious wrote: Hi, The last week or so I have been craving meat. To get my mind off of meat, I have been trying even more new things. I have a friend here who loves to cook. Even though she is not a vegetarian, she loves cooking veggies and will try everything. So she has been helping me with some new veggie dishes and trying new fruits ( I LOVE FRUIT). It's funny because she had me try avacado; I almost spit it across the room YUCK! However, the fresh mango was delicious LOL! Thanks for the help and concern J Lyn GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote: I was wondering how you were doing with meals and if you have found plenty to eat without craving meat. I don't post often, but I read yours. Some of these dinners sound wonderful! It makes me longer for a bigger kitchen . Keep up the good work, you all have made it easier to become and stay vegetarian! J Lyn GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote: Well I had leftovers. I ate a zucchini patty warm with veganaise mayo and a slice of raw onion, steamed baby red potatoes with dill, sauteed asparagus in blood orange olive oil with almonds sprinkled over the top. Oh yes, and a 1/2 can of Cherry/Vanilla Dr. Pepper (:-O I have to have my sugar baby! Especially for those of us who are fairly new to vegetarian meals and could benfit from the ideas. It's so exciting to shop for groceries when I know I will be eating wonderful food! This was mine: Pita Pockets with brown rice and marinated vegetables. Chop into bite-size pieces any combination of salad vegetables you like. I used freshly steamed beets, celery, mushrooms, zucchini, red pepper, green onion cucumber and feta cheese. Make a simple olive oil and lemon dressing with a little salt and pepper plus any other seasonings that grab you. Into a pita pocket put in a small scoop of rice and spoon on some of the vegies with dressing. enjoy! dw
