Oh there are some good recipes using lentils in our recipe files. The lentil

loaves are wonderful. Have you checked the files?

Hi Loresa, I just looked under main dishes #2 and saw a couple good lentil

recipes there. I better try those myself. I'm stuck on the lentil loaf, it's

so versatile.......Donna

Definitely check out the files section for all kinds of lentil

recipes:

My favorite is the Lentil Loaf. I've made it a few times, each time

changing it up a bit, which makes it a lot of fun to make.

Also, since lentils are so easy to cook; no presoak and only 20-30

min. to cook; you can whip them up and add as a side dish. Add spices

such as chili powder, cumin powder, curry powder, celery salt. Saute

some onions first then add the water/stock and lentils.

Just a few ideas.....have fun experimenting.

I went to the Indian store near me over the weekend

and got a fresh batch of red lentils, yellow masoor

dal and some fresh spices, all of which I ran out of

awhile ago. The Indian store has all these sooooo much

cheaper than the ordinary stores do.

What type of lentils are you using? I admit I use the

yellow ones not as much...But the red ones are great

for pulses. I will post in a separate msg the recipe

given to me by my best friend, who is originally from

Madras, for her sambhar. That is my favorite thing to

make with red lentils.

What kind of lentils??

There are many recipes in the files...I'm always a fan of something

spicey and indian for lentils & there are yummy lentil loaf and soup

recipes. We make lentil burgers regularly, which are yummy...pretty

much take your favorite loaf recipe and shape burgers out of them

instead of putting in a loaf pan (you may need to make the recipe a

little more on the dry side) - I don't have my burger recipe handy but

will post it if you like. Also, and again no recipe handy, them make

a great salad!!
