Guest guest
Hi, Thanks a lot for the information. I eat cheese and have no problems but I can't drink milk or milkshakes or ice cream without having some, um, problems (as noted below). I have wondered why there was a difference but never went hunting. You have provided me with an answer to my unasked question. Now here's my next question. I can still eat a small cup of yogurt without very much of a problem, same goes for frozen yogurt. Any idea why not so much of a problem? (And for those who might raise the question, I do check the cartons and only eat the ones which don't have gelatin in the ingredients. It always amazes me how many places gelatin has insinuated itself.) Maybe it is just the quantity of lactose since you said ice cream has a lot and I most definitely can't eat ice cream without near-term unpleasant consequences. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Gary, Do the Lactaid pills help you? I can't handle yogurt frozen or not, cream cheese or sour cream either. Cooked Alfredo sauces and really cheesy mac & cheese is also a killer but if I make mashed potatoes with evaporated milk in a can that doesn't seem to bother me if I use a small amount. Making breads with a 1/2 cup of milk in the batter seems fine too. I wonder if you are intolerant or allergic? I get so sick from dairy that I try to eliminate it as much as possible.
