Guest guest
In Portland, the CSA that my friend was a part of was actually in the city! They had converted their entire yard into a small farm and they had friends who raised chickens (for eggs), so they had a couple of people involved with creating products for the CSA. You actually don't need a large spread to do it. Of course if you live in a city where no one has a backyard for miles and miles, than..... I checked out the link that Amy provided and it did list a CSA I know of, but it didn't list the one that is close to me. So, it's not a complete list. Ya never know, now that you're aware of CSAs, you might actually find something. But as Amy said, shopping for veggies is fun too! , GeminiDragon <thelilacflower> wrote: > Amy, could be that I'm in the city and there is no surrounding area for one. Most of those places are up north or south of me. Is the agriculture areas. I'm lucky to be this near the farmers market but I want to go to the CSA now..................D > > Amy <sandpiperhiker> wrote:Shopping at a real farmers market supports the farmer just as much as > purchasing via CSA does. :-) Too bad there weren't any near you > though - the veggies would just show up once a week at your pickup > point! Guest guest
I spent two weeks in Portland two years ago. It's wall to wall lobster. Lobster rolls are the biggy, oh and those hoagies they call " Italian sandwiches " which is a hoagie with sweet peppers. I was amazed when I paid 8 bucks for a lobster dinner, and 8 bucks for eggs and potatoes, LOL. (don't eat eggs anymore, well, not whole anyway, still eat stuff made with egg though, and most certainly don't eat lobster anymore, in fact, lobster wasn't good to me without the butter, that is what really made it, so if I get an urge, I can just drink a bowl of butter, cause that's what it is really about, but I doubt I will ever get an urge.) anyway.......
