Guest guest
Hi Susie, That's the rellano recipe. When you are done with your detox you might want to give this recipe a try. I find those whole canned chili's in the market isle with salsa and enchilada sauce. Usually in a small can like a chopped olive can. The chilis are all folded so several fit in a small can. I wanted to tell you that my brother-in-laws brother is visiting from Yucatan and he made the best lentil soup. The weather is so hot and humid down there that they cook in top of the stove and make soups served slightly warm. He used a package of lentils and the usual spices like cumin, chopped cilantro, along with carrots, celery, chayote squash, but he also tossed 3 serrano peppers in the pot whole, not diced, fire roasted the whole garlic bulb until the skin turned black, on the burner and tossed the whole bulb in the soup (it's mild this way and you can eat the cloves if you like and also squeeze then on bread) and he bought a very large plantain (plantanos) banana and said you use it when the skin is mixed yellow & black for a good taste. He took the plantain banana and scrubbed the skin with a wire brush and then left the skin on and cut it in 2 inch circles and cooked in the soup. The spicy soup was wonderful and here and there you have this slightly sweet taste of the plantain when you remove the peel and eat from the soup bowl, it's also an extremely attractive bowl of soup. He tossed the diced potatoes and zucchini in at the last 15 minutes of cooking. He's a chef in Cancun and this soup is much admired where he works. He just calls it Yucatacan Stew and I had a hard time understanding the directions since he speaks little English, so luckily my sister speaks Spanish and we wrote this down. I was thinking of you when I sdaw it cooking knowing how your love spicy food and lentils. Enjoy your day, it's just starting for me. I'm not going to like when my vacation is over.Donna " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x wrote: hi donna, i just went and found your chile rellanos recipe (and posted it in the files...see below). i didn't realize you could get the large roasted chiles in a can. i'll keep my eye out for them (if i can't find them, i'll just roast my own). i'll have to try them one of these days (i'm wheat-free and dairy-free right now...detox diet). thanks for directing me to the recipe. susie You can access the file at the URL: Main%20Dishes%20II/Mexica\ n%20%26%20Tex-Mex%20Inspired%20Dishes/Green%20Chili%20Rellenos%20%20%28stuffed%2\ 0green%20chilis%29 --- GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote: > Give the chile rellanos a try off the recipe I > posted in early May.
