Actually I take back one comment I made about

growing lovage. I have a lovely tall black lovage

(Smyrnium olusatrum) plant that is in semi-shade

and seems to love it. Of course regular lovage is

Levisticum officinalis so now I must go looking

to discover how similar black lovage and lovage

actually are.

I think I just need to move and/or plant my next

regular lovage* in a less sunny spot. It gets fairly

warm in the East San Francisco Bay Area (Tri-Valley)

where I live. Sufficiently warm to crisp a plant

that may grow well in full sun in other areas.

go looking for any of my former loves in my

back yard. (unless I do need some soil turned

over in particular areas . . . ;<) )
