Hi,

Just a suggestion when posting the URL's

for web pages.

1) If it is relatively short (in other words

unlikely it is going to wrap in the email

box of whoever gets it) it is probably fine

not to put anything around it, other than

a space on both sides.

As an example,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tansy

on a separate line, no characters before or

after it, is probably just fine. You can

put it on the same line. It is just my

personal preference to put it on a separate

line most of the time.

2) If you have a longer url, one alternative is

to put angle brackets around it,

again, although this is a shorter url,

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tansy>

Other characters, like _ or ( ) can cause

problems and confuse the web browser because

it will try to include those in the name.

_http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tansy_

can cause problems, problems in the

sense of it doesn't take you to the

correct web page and may just take you

some place that says Error, I can't find

this web page.

Of course, nothing is perfect, even

can not work if the email gets turned into

html because it may totally disappear because

the email tool thinks it is html code and

hides it (that may not be quite technically

correct but you get the idea). Sometimes

breaks when the URL is very long. It

is not consistent though.

3) Another alternative, especially for very long

URL's is tinyurl. The web page for that is

http://tinyurl.com/create.php

On that page you can past the long URL and

it comes out with a shorter URL. Again

using the tansy address above, it became:

http://tinyurl.com/hu2ys

So, for the tansy web address it is hardly

worth the trouble but for very long URL's

it can be very handy.
