Guest guest
Someone mentioned a lonely bag of tvp sitting on their shelf. I used to have this same bag until my online friend Ruthie shared her hubby's tvp recipe. Here version can be seen at http://thriftyladybug.blogspot.com/2006/03/goodbye-procrastination-and-hello.htm\ l. Here's my version: I mix this in a giant 8 cup measuring cup. 3 cups boiling water 1/4 cup tamari 1 tsp dried basil 2 tsp garlic powder drop of toasted sesame oil Whisk these together and add: 3 cups tvp Stir and let sit untill liquid is absorbed. Grease a large cookie sheet and spread tvp mixture onto it in an even layer. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about a 1/2 hour, depending on how crispy you like it. (I've also done it at 400 degrees which makes it crispier but you have to watch closely because the edges burn.) Stir it a few times while its baking to make sure everything gets crispy. Use this in sauce, on pizza, in chili etc Katie http://frugalveggiemama.blogspot.com Messenger with Voice. PC-to-Phone calls for ridiculously low rates.
