Guest guest
Thanks again Diane , How you described the popcorn is just how I like it too- a tiny bit burned- or brown-ish...... it's hard to get it just right so that it isn't black burned- but it is sooo good when I get it right! Microwave popcorn is about $4 a box for a 3 pk box here and while it tastes good- I know that it isn't the best for me......but love the ease of making it in the microwave. I have a hot air popper- but it just doesn't do it for me- so will give this a try! I promise I always watch my popcorn when I mic it-I know how fast this stuff can go from ooh to ewwwww... I love the partially popped 'old maids' too- although my teeth are not thrilled with it. That and crushed ice........OMG! I couldn't live a summer without my Sunbeam " Avalanche " ice crusher! Sharon in SA - strayfeather1 .................................................... But I can always smell when the popcorn is starting to scorch. I let it go about 4 1/2 minutes and sometimes it's still a tiny bit browned but I like that. This method leaves more unpopped than an air popper though . Guest guest
We love popcorn here too. We have made it on the stove, in a paper bag, bought microwave popcorn, etc. My aunt even had a metal pan with a vented lid that we used when we went camping. My old microwave popcorn popper looked exactly like the rice steamer. It was plastic with a lid that had vents in it. It worked good and when we moved, I guess it got lost because I never located it. I usually cook my rice on the stove but this gives me another reason to invest in a microwave rice cooker. I've been wanting one but I didn't know if they really worked as they should.
