Guest guest
Kenia, You can substitute butter or margarine for ghee. I personally prefer butter. I posted a recipe awhile ago on how I make ghee. It should be in the files. You can buy it at Indian food stores but it is much cheaper if you make it from butter. GB The Wife's Whopping Asparagus Soup Guru This is a nice recipe GB Guru, would it be OKay to use butter or margarine in place of ghee? I have never seen ghee for sale. Guest guest
Deanna, I am not sure exactly how ghee is made commercially. You have to cook butter tomake ghee though. I looked at marilyn's recipe for ghee. It is the way most people make it. I amke mine in a crockpot. Marilyn also has the Ayurvedic attributes of ghee on her post. This is good information. Ghee is healthy for people. Most people need oils in different amounts according to one's dosha. There are some people who go to websites to look up their dosha by taking a questionaire. This can work for some people. The are 2 kinds of doshas though. The kind you are born with and the kind that you now have or is presently causing the problem. We have the kind we are born with throughout our lives. It is part of our genetics.Ayurveda is much more complicated than taking a questionaire and a lot of people can get into trouble if they are not correctly diagnosed. GB Re: The Wife's Whopping Asparagus Soup Guru -Just wondering if this is a safe method for making Ghee. I have read that heating animal fat to a high temperature is more dangerous than eating it plain . Is this the way store bought Ghee is made? I am trying to wean myself from butter by using Earth Balance which is a good substitute. Deanna Gurubandhu If you cannot see God in all, You cannot see God at all. Guest guest
Deanna I don't knnow if I answered your question completely. I think Marilyn's recipe for ghee is healthy. It says in her recipe and mine that you need the golden brown color so watch carefully so it doesnot burn. Ghee holds a very high place in Ayurveda and it is used in Ayurvedic recipes. Ayurveda only recommends healing foods. GB Re: The Wife's Whopping Asparagus Soup Guru -Just wondering if this is a safe method for making Ghee.
