Although it has many health benefits, spelt is NOT gluten free. Anyone

who is gluten intolerant should definitely avoid spelt.

Hi,

I just got back from my Local, Tesco Supermarket.

And I got myself a small loaf of " sliced white bread " for 99 pence(approx

US$1.50)

There are only five slices but they are gluten, wheat and milk free :-)

Each slice is approx. 2.5 inches high and 4 inches wide.

It is made from the following ;-

Water

Tapioca starch

Rice flour

Potato flour

And Maize Flour

Vegetable oil

Dried egg white

Glucose Syrup

Cellulose fibre

Humectant(Vegetable Glycerine)

Stabilisers(Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum)

Yeast

Maize Flour

Calcium Carbonate

Salt

Emulsifiers(Polyglycerol Esters of fatty acid, mono-and Di-Glycerides of

fatty acids)

And finally Citric acid.

I read it off the packaging :-(

I just thought it be interesting for any comments :-)

Best Wishes,

Wee

Well, that sounds interesting. But... cellulose fibre? So, it's made

from trees?

How does this bread taste? :-)

I don't know where you are with being vegetarian and

ingredient lists but mono and di-glycerides are

usually not vegetarian unless they specifically list

" from vegetables " this is why I can't eat doughnuts

anymore

(and I live next to a Krispy Kreme!:-( ).
