I decided to have a veggie burger while I was visiting Mom in the hospital last

night. It was wonderful and the cashier told me to take anything I wanted to

top my burger with from the salad var. I took bets, artichokes, red onions.

Next to the salad bar was a rack of chips. No baked chips and 4 rows of pork

rinds, plain, chili & lime, BBQ and extra spicy.......now isn't that an awful

snack to sell in the hospital cafeteria? That's pork fat fried in fat.

I'm happy to see your doctor believes in the vegetarian diet, that is a big

start because there's hope he will recommend it to his patients.

I noticed on another site that it is National Vegetarian Week here in

the UK, an event which almost passed me by. I was just checking on the

Vegetarian Society website to see what, if anything, was going on in

my area and I was pleased to see that Vegetarian Week " and its

associated dietary benefits " are being promoted by the National Health

Service here in Scotland. My own doctor has been very positive about

me being vegetarian, but I am really happy to see that this attitude

is also coming down from the dizzy heights of the NHS Health promotion

department here. I wonder if this means that food options for

vegetarians in hospital is any better.
