cocoa butter is used in natural cosmetics because it thickens the oil and

liquids used in lotions & salves. I use the food grade in lotions, etc.

I looked in some dessertt cookbooks and on the net and I sure don't see

anything about cooking with cocoa butter. For some reason I get the impression

you can melt it and add cocoa chocolate powder to it.

That is odd we don't find anything out there calling for it.

Helloooooo!

As we all know that cocoa butter is the base of all good quality chocolate! Yum!

I have a product that is from Now foods-love Now foods!!!!!!!!. It is 100% pure

cocoa butter and no other ingredients. It is extremely hard and waxy, and can be

melted in the micro or on the stove. I scoop out some in a container to keep as

a skin conditioner and keep the left over in my kitchen ( dont want to confuse

the two containers) ewww. The product specifies that it is food grade and

cosmetic grade. I just do not know what to use it for in recipes!

When I did low carb a few years back, I bought cocoa butter at the HFS and

made a " fudge " with it. I remember melting that along with some fantastic

coconut butter and mixing it with some kind of chocolate. My memory isn't

very clear - but anyway, it made a fantastic snack of sorts, and since it

was almost all fat, it certainly kept you feeling full for hours!!!

Probably don't see much about it because we have such a fear of fats,

although since the coconut is a medium chain triglyceride (and as such has

no detrimental effect on the body), some of that is turning around again.

I know nothing about the composition of cocoa butter...other than it made a

great moisturizer partnered with shea butter when I made soaps and lotions!
