2 cups rolled oats

2 cups wheat bran

2 cups raisins

2 cups raw pumpkin seeds

1 1/2 cups pecans (chop them if you want)

1 cup raw hulled sesame seeds

1 cup raw hulled golden flax seeds

1 cup raw hulled flax seeds (red)

2 Tbsp Cinnamon

3/4 cups vegan margarine

3 cups natural maple syrup

1 cup wild honey

2 Tbsp natural pure vanilla powder or equal measurement of pure bourbon

vanilla.

Preheat oven to 375F

Heat ingredients #10-13 on stove or in microwave until heated through.

Combine ingredients # 1-9.

Pour maple syrup mixture over dry mixture untill moistened, you may need not

to use all of the mixture.

Spread into greased cookie sheet or lazagne pan.

Bake until golden brown. Stir several times until all ingredients are

golden. Much of the granola needs to be folded so the bottom granola gets a

chance to come to the top and golden brown in the oven. It takes about an hour

to bake, maybe a little less depending on your oven, but becareful and check on

the granola every 5 minutes after the first 10 min. of cooking. Once started,

the mixture browns quickly so you have to stir alot to avoid burning!

Store in airtight container. 1-2 weeks.

P.S. This was made one week before mothers day with real butter. My mom

said that it was the best granola she had tasted! Because finances are tight,

most of my gifts for friends birthdays, adult family birthdays, and holidays

such as mothers day, fathers day, and Valentines are recipes related. She

requested this granola as her mothers day recipe. I did not tell her and

subtituted the vegan margarine for butter untill her review. She said that it

was better than the recipe the week before without knowing the truth! When I

told her that It was a Vegan recipe she said not to change a thing, and I should

try to sell it! What a compliment! She is very honest about my experiments!

Yay! Another person fooled into my vegetarian ways! Tee Hee!

I am on the quest to use cocoa butter in recipes. So if I can find 100% pure

cocoa butter in bulk I will buy it Otherwise it is $9.00 for 7 oz and that it

way out of my price range! Oh well

One last thing- I used a 100% natural Dark amber grade B Canadian maple syrup,

and the wild honey is farmed humanely- no harm to the little buggers! I may try

agave syrup istead of honey because it is vegan and there is less chance of

harming wild life. There is also maple butter- I may try that instead of the

syrup and eliminate the need for margarine. But why mess with perfection! Its

all trial and error.

Sorry for the rambling- took my pain meds and I just ramble on and on when I

take it!

P.S.S- I may use this granola in Erin's peanut butter pie #1. That recipe

excited me!

Cheers,

Denise R.
