In digest #842, Sharon asked: " I'm trying to cut back both on

my white sugar *and* fake sugar intake. It's gotten very

hot here and I want to make some sweetened ice tea that

my kids and I can all enjoy. "

~ Hi Sharon, i use mostly sucanat in my iced tea:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucanat

i make a wonderful peach iced tea by adding 4 peach

tea bags [naturally decaf by Celestial Seasonings] with

one large decaf iced tea bag by Luzianne. i let this steep

in 2 quart mason jar full of hot water until it gets nice and

brown and comes to room temperature. Then i swirl in two

heaping tablespoonfuls of sucanat; this is plenty sweet

enough for me. After the sucanat dissolves i pour everything

into a 4 quart pitcher and add another 2 quarts of ice cold

water, then stir. Chill in the refrigerator and enjoy over ice

while you groove to the Allman Brothers Band.

Yummy, not too sweet and way better for you than sweet teas

are. :)

Oh, that sounds interesting! Thanks, Patchouli Troll. I will try this out.

Hmmm.... I have patchouli soap and patchouli body powder, but I think I

like it best mixed with other scents, like raspberry. I wonder if most

folks know that patchouli essential oil improves with age? I know a

lady who bought a bottle when her son was born and she plans to age it

until he's 21 or so. :-)
