Especially if the kids have ever watched " 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea "

LOL

Squid, not tell me what kid would ever crave squid?

They need to make the mock crab cakes or a bean burger on the grill with all

the fixings.

it i mean to make a family dine upon squid

saute when all they have ever eaten before is pizza, chips, and microwaved

dinners was strange and of course the kids are going to have a negative reaction

to the meals being healthy.

I'm new to this group and haven't properly introduced myself (Hi! I'm

Debbie, vegetarian for decades, vegan for months) but this show has gotten

me thinking. First, I'm appalled that people feed their kids that crap; I'm

no paragon of motherly nutritional virtue by any means (just ask my

23-year-old kid), but do people really give their kids fistfuls of candy,

ice cream, etc just because they throw a fit if you don't give it to them?

Apparently so. And really, if you knew you were going to have a film crew

in your house for a TV show wouldn't you clean first? (Again, no

housekeeping pedestal here, trust me, but I'd make darn sure I cleaned

before those people got there.)

But that nutritionist, what the heck is she thinking making people have

their first " healthy " meal be squid? And it's not just once in a while,

it's every single show! I can only assume they do it to provoke tantrums in

the family for dramatic effect, there can't be any other reason for it.

While I personally would prefer vegetarian meals be prominently discussed,

if they have to have meat why can't it be a turkey burger? Or just a

regular fish filet for crying out loud? Something that's not guaranteed to

throw everybody into fits. And those aging pictures, they go out of their

way to make the " bad " pictures as bad as possible --unkempt, baggy,

dirty-looking T-shirts, messy hair, etc. -- and the " good " pictures have the

kids in ties and dresses with neatly styled hair, attractive jewelry, etc.

Frankly, either way the kids end up looking like the parents (duh!), but

apparently they feel they need to stack the deck, again for dramatic effect.

I do like most of the other stuff, the family assignments seem pretty

reasonable, and I like especially that they have the families do different

types of activities together. I'd really like some follow up on how they're

doing after the cameras are gone.

Debbie (who just provided a pretty accurate introduction to herself, I

suppose. Hi! again)

I know the squid was just to gross as was all that seafood. She mentioned that

when she made the Veggie burgers the kids loved that. I too wish they had were

introducing more Vegetarian type dishes, to make it even healthier. Over All

the show is outstanding at helping families in many ways to be healthier abd

live more interesting lives.

regularly in restaurants much to the delight of her Italian father &

grandfather. i personally hate all seafood, lol.
