Guest guest
At the beginning of the Iraq war, a lot of soldiers were getting sick. They were drinking a soda and they were getting sick from that.. I forget the details so plese don't quote me. I think it was a diet soda and probably with aspertame. These were left in probably 120 degree weather and the combination caused the soda to have a reaction. I think it had formaldehyde in it. GB Re: Aspertame No good at all. Guest guest
what happens is when aspartame reaches 98.6 degrees, it changes to formaldehyde!!! The effects are toxic. The story of the soldiers is very true. Just think, our normal temp is 98.6 so guess what we are drinking when we drink diet drinks? Another thing I bet you all did not know. Drinks that have phosphorous in it deplete calcium from your bones! Phosphorous and calcium work hand in hand. When one is up, the other is down visa versa. Know any diet drink ahoholics? ask them, they probably have already been told they have osteoporosis. Of course a little bit every now and then is not going to hurt you. It is when we do things in excess that affect us. hth, Julie - Guru Khalsa Saturday, April 29, 2006 6:12 PM Re: Aspertame No good at all. Guest guest
I too react strongly to aspartame, migraines, muscle aches, dizziness, even from just a small amount. I have since I was a child, and my other has the same reaction. I think that something like 85% of the population reacts in some way to it, whether they are aware of it or not (don't quote me on that figure, I'm not sure of the exact number or where I read it). It also supposedly puts black spots on your brain. Yummy. I strongly recommend the book, _Hard To Swallow: The Truth about Food Additives_. Here is a link to its amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0920470475/sr=8- 1/qid=1146405374/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-6962395-0500162?%5Fencoding=UTF8. It goes additive by additive in alphabeticle order and tells about their effects on the body, the history of how they became allowed or banned in various countries, what exactly they are...really scary. I ended up throwing out multiple things I had in the house after reading it through (I will never use food coloring again!). It is really good at discussing the politics of what gets banned and what doesn't and what information the public is allowed to see about the testing processes and health effects. There is a very long section on aspartame. ~Rachael , " surfboard_bedboard " <surfboard_bedboard wrote: > > I think it's Coke C2 that has it in or one of those, I didn't know it > was even a sugar-free drink, I got really sick with stomach cramps and > a headache, I think it should be taken ofgf the market myself.
