Guest guest
A few years ago on the way to visit my mom in NY (I think I was coming from AL? or SC maybe. anyway...) DH & I stopped at a German restaurant we'd seen the signs for many times. I didn't think I'd be able to get much beyond spaetzle, but it was ok as I wasn't hungry. However, hubby mentioned to waitress I was vegetarian. The chef made me a platter... one of the items was this burger. I loved it and raved so much they gave me the recipe. I hope it's correct as the wonderful chef's or waitress' handwriting isn't the best. The restaurant is " Edelweiss German Restaurant " in Staunton, VA - I found this recipe the other day cleaning out my desk, and it's written on the back of the paper placemat. I will have to make it now. Edelweiss Nut Burgers 4 slices whole wheat bread 1 cup oats 2 eggs 1 onion chopped 1/2 cup cheddar, grated (this is the one I can't tell - 1/4 tsp g powder I think it says, then it says " or (or possibly +) 229 cloves " , with the 29 in superscript -- oh! I bet it's garlic powder or garlic cloves... 1/2 cup nuts salt & pepper Mix. Form into patties. Pan fry. Serve over onion gravy - wish I gotten that recipe too! :-) Keeps 2 weeks in fridge. From some 7th Day Adventist cookbook.
