Guest guest
Hello! I've been lurking for about 2 days and I am astounded as to that activity of this group (love the wonderful variety of recipes in the files! yum! ). I belong to another group that has over 1,300 members, and it's not nearly as active as this one (well, ok, the other is gardening...and I guess we are all busy in the yard/garden!) Long story short...several years ago, I turned to a vegetarian diet, it just happened--was not as a result of a MD saying something, or a conscience decision to reduce animal suffering...I don't fully understand it, but it just happened. I loved how I felt, astounded my doctor MD with my blood pressure (was always around 85/60) and cholesterol was low (don't remember the numbers). About a year later, because of major changes in my life, I fell back to eating meat...in hind sight, I don't understand it, but it happened....I guess meat is my drug of choice. During the time that I was pretty much vegetarian, I couldn't go much more than 4-6 weeks without getting the most god awful craving for any type of meat. I tried watching how much vegi protein I was eating, tried iron pills (I know my iron was low because I was turned down to give blood & that had never happened before) and other vitamins, but it never seemed to help any. Now that I'm trying to find my way back to where I was several years ago, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to prevent those cravings? Thanks so much!
