Guest guest
Hiya Folks, I am a newbie here (joined recently). Is everybody happy :-) I have always been intrigue in the process of making fresh Tofu. I used to buy the do-it-yourselves kit in Supermarkets but have not seen it for a long time. The kit comes with what looked like a bag of powder and you just add water and leave it to set overnight. It worked! And depending on how much water was added, the consistency can be varied by putting less or more water. I know it is very cheap to buy Tofu in Supermarkets but I am curious how it is made. Does anyone know the ingredients and process ?? The good thing about being able to make your own kind of Tofu is that you can have it when you want it(even when the shops are closed). And you can make it to your own consistency, colour and texture. You can also make it as a desert, adding honey or sugar and other type of flavourings. I am aware there are many diffferent kinds of Tofu and each have their own unigue texture and consistency. I have seen yellow Tofu, red ones and white ones in Malaysia. These are sold in tiny hawker stalls as part of a Malaysian Vegetarian Salad known as " Rojak " . Anyone here been to Malaysia and tried it? I have also seen the really soft ones that you just scoop up and eat like a dessert. Googling does not find any recipes for making Tofu as I came out " empty " after a few hours :-( Where have I gone wrong? :-( I hope someone in the group can help me. Guest guest
Dear Denise, Thanks for those wonderful links :-) I will need time to read up and get the essentials to experiment. I don't know when I will be able to perform the experiment yet. I have a funeral to organize on Wednesday, next week. Then after that my friend's Washing machine is gagging for a new set of carbon brushes. Nonetheless, I will report back at some stage but please don't hold me up if I don't, hehe, lol :-))) Best Wishes, Wee On Behalf Of denise rounds 15 April 2006 20:18 Re: Anyone knows how to make Tofu?
