Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Share Posted April 13, 2006 I usually soak the beans overnight. Then I drain, put fresh water in a dutch oven/soup pot and simmer uncovered on the stovetop. I add garlic and jalapenos or serranos while they're cooking and salt at the end. I'll have to try the crockpot. Do you presoak for that? Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Share Posted April 13, 2006 I don't presoak them, go to the neighborhood mercardo and see if they have split dry pinto beans, I noticed those cook faster and retain a better color but mine are always a nice pinkish brown shade so this should work.
