killing the kids

Did anyone happen to catch " Honey We're Killing The Kids " on TLC last night?

 

I believe it's going to run for 13 weeks and each week a family is chosen

for

a lifestyle makeover. Through computer wizardry they show the parents what

their children will look like at age 40 if they don't change their diet and

lifestyle (it ain't pretty) and then they're given a plan...healthy food,

exercise, manners (sadly lacking in last night's family), limited

TV/Computer time,

etc. While great strides were made, I found the parents to be kind of

ineffectual and too eager to just take the easy way out. One can't help but

wonder

what happens when the TV cameras are no longer there. In any event, it was

kind

of entertaining and worth a look.

 

I get so impatient with that stuff.......I think a lot of it is theatrics.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but my kids are pretty healthy eaters. Their snack of

choice after school is Edamame, or they make bread. Or veggies, fruit, nuts,

etc. No chips or junky stuff. I am also the 'meanest mom' in the neighborhood,

I created the 'Homework Party'. Any kid that comes to my house, everyone

does their homework before they get to play. The other parents love it (though

I

notice no one implements it but me). And after homework is done they go

outside and walk the dogs, rollerblade, play soccer or play basketball. AmyF
