Apple Brown Betty

 

4 c small bread cubes

1/2 c melted butter

3/4 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp salt

3/4 c brown sugar

4 c chopped peeled tart apples

1 c medium cream

1/4 tsp nutmeg

 

Mix first 5 ingredients and arrange in alternate layers with apples in 1

1/2 qt baking dish.

 

Bake 375° for 1 hour, or till apples are done and top is brown.

 

Serve warm with cream, flavored with nutmeg.
