Guest guest
Hi Erin--Just wanted to share with you a wrap I have found that is healthy, low carb and low fat. I found them here at our local grocery in front of the deli counter. Would have never thought to look there, except a friend told me about them. It is called LaTortilla Factory Whole Wheat Low Carb Low fat Tortillas. They are about 9 " across, have 80 calories, 14 gms fiber and 3 gms fat. I went and checked the sodium--300 mg--I have no idea whether that is outrageous or not, as I don't watch sodium. Anyway---these are delicious heated about 30 seconds in the microwave with a little cheese of your choice, and then stuffed with an assortment of salad greens, chopped tomatoes, onions, olives, avocado, radishes--basically just what you have that you can put in it. Wrap it up and eat it! What I've been making at home sounds very much like your delicious wrap...and you're right, the chewy texture of the wrap adds so much to the fresh veggies. I'm thinking beans mixed in with the salad greens would be very good. I also use a fat free raspberry pecan dressing on the salad before I stuff the tortilla with it. Here's a link if you're interested, that should tell whether they are available in your area http://www.latortillafactory.com/locator.aspx. They are made in California, and I'm in Texas, so maybe they might available somewhere in your area, too. I'm slowly catching up on the digests, and trying to figure out how to streamline a reply without sending the whole digest, and still maintain my place in the digest....if that makes any sense! Paula Thu, 06 Apr 2006 12:12:37 -0000 " Erin " <truepatriot.............. Also, my nutrition program shows those tortillas coming in around 200-300 calories with more fat than you might guess. And, the sodium in one of those wraps is outrageous!...........
Guest guest
Thanks. I have heard of this company before. Unfortunately, the closest retailer offering their products is 53 miles away. However, you can buy them online. I find most flour tortillas to be too high in sodium, this one included. I think Dr. Fuhrman in Eat To Live recommends no given food exceed 2 gms sodium per calorie or 200 gms/servings, whichever is lower. The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) suggests no more than 2400 mg/day (1500, if attempting to control hypertension). I stick with corn tortillas, which naturally have 0-10 mg sodium per serving (and only 60 calories). Sadly, they only come in soft taco sizes. So, if I want a full burrito-sized wrap, I have to make them myself. (Except for days like the one at work when I'm relegated to eating out and breaking my rules.) -Erin , Paula K Ward <paulakward wrote: > > Hi Erin--Just wanted to share with you a wrap I have found that is > healthy, low carb and low fat.
