Guest guest
Like Jen said, I too have heard that Americans get too much protein and that its need is highly over rated. I do like the fake meat products, for variety - my hubby can be funny about them and doesn't like them if they are too much like meat, & he's not crazy about the veggie crumbles. The kids like these in my old favorite comfort food - rice with " burger " and gravy - I do that when he's not home. I am careful when I am using them because of the salt content and I don't use them night after night. I do try to stick more with whole foods and use veggies, beans, grains and fruit & we do dairy - we have a varied diet and I have yet to have any trouble with the kids being anemic, poorly nourished or weight troubles up or down. As an aside - Donna I stick red lentils in my spaghetti sauce, they cook up quick right in it and add that extra does of protein, the kids hardly notice them! m
Guest guest
Mel thanks, I can't wait to try that. I never use the red ones and now I shall. I know they cook faster than the brown ones.
