This is what we usually do as well.

It is so much nicer to take a cooler of

your own healthy foods and find a

nice spot to picnic along the road than

to stop at a fastfood place. *s*

i will have to remember to keep a jar

of nuts in the car; that is a great idea.

What are some of your favorite totable

take-along recipes for road trips?

This is a great group question topic since

the summer travel season is fast approaching.

I tale apple slices dipped in lemon juice to retain natural color. I jar of

vegan mayo (I love the flavor of Veganaise better than regular mayo) good loaf

of bread. Slice up veggies for sandwiches. Cucumbers and radishes make a great

sandwich with onion and avocado. I usually make an avocado spread and put the

seed in the center or mix some lemon juice so it stays pretty green. It spreads

well on bread.

I take fruit cups if I don't have fresh fruit on hand.

Don't forget to make ants on a log...LOL Celery stuffed with peanut butter and

raisins placed here and there in the peanut butter.

A loaf of quick bread like the kiwi bread would be good or zucchini or banana

bread. Better than a candy bar for dessert. I fill water wbottles with fruit

herbal tea. I have trays that make ice cubes that drop into bottled water so it

stays cold for a long time. Have you seen those ice cube trays? There are so

many good things to take along......Donna

pt -

We tend to bring along snacky things like granola's, nuts, etc. If we

picnic we like to get cheeses, good bread, simple fruits and veggies.

Bagels (with or without cream cheese) are frequents & we always keep

bottles of water in the car/bring them along...for thirsty kids and

rinsing things off!

One of our favorite summer treats is to stop at the road side fruit

stands and sample their items - the kids always enjoy fruits/veggies

more when they've selected them. We also just love good deli

sandwiches, so don't mind not pre packing and stopping at a real deli

for a sandwich treat.
