You're right, Andrew! Sorry about that! It is 1/2 *cup* of pearl

barley. Barley is a grain. Pearling takes the hull and the bran off,

so while it's still pretty nutritious, it's even better if you can

find hulled ( called barley " groats " ) or a naturally hull-less variety.

 

Pearl is the easiest to find - you'll probably see it in a regular

grocery store with the rices or cereals, sometimes by soups, so by all

means - buy some and try it! :-) It's yummy...

Cool..sounds great. And you know, I think I've had it. It might have

even been a Campbell's soup or something like that. Anyway, thank you

for the clarification!
