Guest guest
lol that is funny. I wouldn't even bother trying vegan cheese. I already know it is not my style. I know this because although I like soy products, I LOVE soymilk, I can't handle fake meat. The fake chicken strips are an exception when I coat them in buffalo sauce and eat a very small amount. The meatball just tastes too bitter. If I could get that bitterness out I may like it. What I prefer is substituting another way, like using a portabella cap for a hamburger is so much more satisfying than a fake hamburger to me. And a " hoagie " with horseradish and cucumber lettuce and tomato oil and oregano I sbetter than one with the fake ham etc. This is just my opinion of course, I don't mean to say that there is anything wrong with the " fake meat " I just prefer other stuff. Some of that other stuff however is cheese LOL. Like our Mac and cheese! LOL.YUM! Thing is, when I think about it, and I mean when I have really really thought about it, I have come to this conclusion: To me, to live in harmony with nature and be as kind and giving with my fellow Earth inhabitants both human and non human as possible is the ticket to low karma high light ratio. I am sure you all look at it that way, LOL. anyway... to be in this frame of mind I have to think like that of living in harmony with nature. If I did have cows, and took care of the cows, and loved the cows, the cows would give something back to me, maybe I would drink of the cows milk. Question is, would I drink of the cows milk 12 months per year? I think I would drink the milk for as many months as the cow was nursing. Although pretty gross when I think about it this way, and the thought of this is why I now drink soy milk, but I guess it's not gross enough to make me give up cheese, LOL. I guess it's natural for us to drink the milk of cows and goats only when they are nursing, which is how many months out of the year? Then there is the egg thing. nah, .... nothing comes to my mind to defend the eggs. They are chicken abortions in my opinion, and I think my egg days are coming to an end. Question for vegans: How do I substitute for eggs in recipes? For example, like my pineapple stuff that calls for 4 eggs I think it is. Not really intentionally, it's just happening. I have way cut down on my butter use, I use margarine or oil instead, sometimes Crisco, LOL, and I never ever drink down a glass of milk anymore, it would just make me sick, I drink Silk soy. > Just can't see myself ever giving up Mac and cheese. I think other than Mac and cheese I could go vegan and not even think about it LOL. > Where can I get ricemilk? Can it be bought in the non perishable container? Ricemilk comes in asceptic boxes, I think.
Guest guest
I know they sell egg replacers at places like Whole Foods. A vegan friend said there's one vegan brand with an old fashioned looking carton that has been around since like the 50s (Don't know the brand name, but I guess you can just look for an old fashioned carton ). She said it can be used for baking. Another friend who has a propensity to come up with interesting rants always had one about people having lactose intolerance issues (including me with regular milk that isn't skim). She said how cows have 4 stomachs and baby cows are able to handle the lactose well because they too have 4 stomachs and can digest it fine. However, we people have 1 stomach and can't digest lactose like cows because of that. If we had 4 stomachs we could. That is today's lesson on stomachs Jen " Why not be oneself?
