Guest guest
" Glycerin has always been one of those tricky ingredients for vegetarians because it's included in so many consumer products and can be either plant or animal derived. One of those items where you'll frequently find glycerin is toothpaste. So, I wrote to Crest to ask them whether their glycerin comes from. The basic answer (it can come from either, whatever's more available) didn't surprise me, but some of the other information in their response did: " http://www.vegblog.org/archive/2005/03/15/glycerin.php --- GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote: > > I've only used vegetarian. Guest guest
Yes, I agree with you, another hidden ingredient hidden behind the word glycerine. I know many of the glycerine soaps contain tallow. Thankfully my friends shop is owned and operated by a strict vegan. Her glycerine is plant based. The two craft stores in my area label theirs also. I'll bet 95% of the poeple never thought their toothpaste could contain animal products. I use Tom's of Maine. That was a good post you sent.............Donna Taylor <veralinnyumsweet wrote: " Glycerin has always been one of those tricky ingredients for vegetarians because it's included in so many consumer products and can be either plant or animal derived. Guest guest
It is good that they are trying to switch over to using vegetable derived things, but they still test on animals, thier toothpaste contains WAY too many chemicals for my comfort, and well, I just get freaked out by some of thier " flavors " and such. I am also kind of disturbed by the statement about it being so chemically altered...how can that be good in any way? Recently I was introduced to melaluca, which is a company originating in Austrailia and they sell home care, body care ect. products and they have all kinds of information about what chemicals in products can do to your body and health. I already used mostly natural products but now, I am done with anything not natural. Too scary. ~Mel --- Taylor <veralinnyumsweet wrote: > " Glycerin has always been one of those tricky > ingredients for vegetarians because it's included in > so many consumer products and can be either plant or > animal derived.
