Guest guest
Yes, I love Brussels sprouts and even as a kid! Probably because my mom would sprinkle them with vinegar. That's how I ate my canned spinach, too! When buying them, try to get as small a sprout as possible. The larger ones tend to be tougher and have a stronger flavor. Tear off the outer leaves (usually one or two of them) and then cut off the bottom. Some people say to slice an X into the bottom, but I just slice them off. You can steam them like you do other veggies. Pierce with a sharp nice through the bottom to test for doneness. Should go in easily. You can also sautee them. In my favorite magazine (not vegetarian), Saveur, I followed a recipe to saute them in garlic infuced oil and then add breadcrumbs. I just went to their site to find the recipe, but it's not there. I'll have to look it up when I'm home.
