Guest guest
Chanda - that used to be my specialty!! I was left in charge of my brother after school past dinner time lots, from the time I was about 10...before microwaves...I was quite the chef. I could use the oven for the old kind of tv dinners (salisbury steak comes to mind) - I could make spaghetti ('cept my brother would throw the noodles on the wall to check for doneness) - and my peice d'resistance (spelling?) was corned beef hash, lightly sauteed from the can. I remember loving the stuff. I benefitted lots from Grandmother who actually taught me to cook. My favorite back then that she made was American Chop Suey (you east coasters may be familiar) - not gourmet cookery, but better than heat and serve out of the can! How 'bout those little weiners that used to come in a baby food jar... I think I liked them too... m
Guest guest
awwww, I could see it when I was reading it. hey, here is something really gross, this tops all of the stories here, LOL , I win I win, LOL..... I am a mutt, LOL, but my father's mother's side was pure German, right from the " boat " What they used to do is an old German thing, when my grandmom would be making meatloaf, and even BACON, yes BACON, she would hand me what was about a tbs. full of the ground meat, or a slice of the bacon, and give it to me RAW. I didn't know any better. I didn't like the raw ground beef, but I remember loving the raw bacon, and I would ask for more, and she would say, " it's not too good to eat too much of it. " ughhhhhhhh, can you just imagine!!?? Blessings, Chanda - melissa_hopp Monday, March 28, 2005 1:24 PM Re: corned beef hash Chanda - that used to be my specialty!!
