Hey maybe she'll think you're becoming a better mother because you're

asking for some of her recipes! LOL, fat chance, huh?

I used to have to persevere through telephone conversations with my

mom, too. But I knew what to expect and I would trudge through it,

knowing the conversation would soon turn to something we would agree

upon; believe it or not usually politics.

Towards the end of her life, it was difficult to speak about food

with her because she just didn't like anything anymore. And

everything upset her stomach, so she pretty much hated all the

wonderful things she used to love to eat. That was probably the

hardest thing for her (and me).

I still make many of mom's recipes, adapted to us, and they bring me

fond memories of our family.

yeah... fat chance. I never put antiseptic on their skinned knees, I washed them

with water and kissed them better. That was just horrible. Gads, when I was a

kid I never had a knee free of scrapes, like the little girl in fried green

tomatoes, LOL.

I know where you are coming from. My mom is a diabetic, and on top of that she

had her thyroid removed as well. She has to measure and watch everything she

eats. One time some soda she thought was diet nearly killed her.

Don't get me wrong, I feel guilty about bashing my mom, LOL. She loves me to

death and right now if I needed her for anything (except money, LOL) she would

be here in a heartbeat, in fact, she helps me to death really. She helps me so

much I want to hang myself if you know what I mean.

I am going to bite the bullet and have her over to lunch and make some yummy

vegetarian stuff that she can eat. At least she likes Christina cooks and won't

fight me on eating a meatless lunch (thanks to Christina) (although I may get

some comments but that is ok) Then someday when she is gone I won't feel guilty

like she insists that I will, LOL.

Blessings,

Chanda
