Guest guest
I will keep an eye out for that book. I don't have an answering machine because of messages from my mother! I got my first answering machine way back in the early '80s. It was reel to reel, and messages were limited to just a few seconds. I updated as technology allowed. In the early 90s, I was away for a weekend, visiting friends. I had not told my mother I'd be away. She would have come into my home to be nosey. Upon my return, there were about 20 voiced messages from her, each more hysterical than the ones before it. She progressed from, " Call me back, " to, " Call me back immedately... " to, finally, " If I don't hear from you in the next five minutes I'm calling the police and they will break your doors down! " I, right then, unplugged the answering machine, wrapped the cord around it, put it in a bag, and put that out in the garbage! Have not had an answering machine since (although my work number and cell phone have voice-mail). I called her back, insisting that she relax! I was in my mid 30s! Oi gevalt! ===== There is a funny, tiny book called Amy's Answering Machine... Jiraph I'm especially thinking of you...it is a Jewish mother's messages left to her daughter and is so very funny!!! Of course, she has a better relationship with her mom than we do...but I got a kick out of it, none the less..
Guest guest
ha! You've got to read the book...Amy has just such an experience with her mother when she is out late one night, and then too tired on arrival to respond!! I don't know that it will be in the library, cuz it is so small. It is on amazon...or you may have a girlfriend who already has it... m
