Guest guest
Hi Mel, I completely understand, that's why I like to cook at home and then I know how everything is prepared. There are not many things I don't eat but I have a problem with spice and black pepper which bother my stomach. The restaurants usually add most spices when they make up a vegetarian meal and I usually end up in misery unless I order a veggie burger and I can make that at home myself. Here's a funny story for you, a girl I worked detested onions and if she even smelled them she would run outside for fresh air. I asked her if she ever got sick on a dish cooked with a lot of onions. She started to laugh. She said there were 10 kids in her family and every single time one started with a fever or cough her Dad boiled a pot with 5 chopped onions and made them drink this on an empty tummy in the morning and several times throughout the day. When I worked at a hotel years back a man from Russia was checking in and I saw he had a cold, he also smelled like onions and just as he opened his coat to get his wallet out I saw he had an onion on a string around his neck. He was trying to explain to me that this is his cold remedy...LOLOLOL Enjoy your weekend.......................Donna Melissa Hill <assilembob wrote: Onions have a totally different taste. Vadellia onions are the only ones I can even stomach. Plus they KILL my stomach. I always hurt majorly after I eat a soup with onions or something. When cooking for myself I just leave them out entirely. To me garlic is not the same as onions, especially in texture and flavor. Donna: I do like SOME chives but again, there has to be very few. I always cut the amount by 2/3 when i cook with them. Green onions are very bitter to me and I have only cooked with shallots once and the results were a disaster (cause until i started cooking with them I didn't realize they were onions. I was 12) My sister is worse. The SMELL of onions will make her sick, but she also adores garlic. (she can't eat it though cause of acid reflex) When we go out to eat we are a pair. I get all animal products removed: no dairy, eggs, and of course meat, no onions, sometimes no peppers (depending on my tummy's mood that day) and she gets no meat, NO ONIONS (which is difficult a lot of times and it frequently gets sent back) no peppers, no dressings...my mom hates going out with us. Anyhoo: In closure...onions are vile, but i will eat things with them in it if cooked for me and usually eat around them if possible. Never said I wasn't a strange one. ~Mel --- Chanda/Maria <puterwitch wrote: > now THAT I don't understand.
