Guest guest
It is amazing that when you sincerely state your desires and/or intentions, the Universe responds. Only a few weeks ago James was talking to me about really wanting to meet like-minded people and find some friends he could connect with. We attended this conference last weekend, which is described below. We met so many wonderful people. And just by chance we ended up in a workshop of people in our area who have formed an organization call Growing Food and Profit. It is a support/network group of local farms, some certified organic and the rest practice organic style farming. They were having their monthly meeting on Tuesday (last night) so perfect timing to go! They asked us to bring a snack for the pot luck. I had concerns all day about what else there was going to be to eat beside what we brought. Well!!! We attended our first all vegetarian pot luck in Iowa! We were so excited, the enchiladas were veggie and had a tvp like product in them! Even the scalloped potatoes and green beans weren't decimated with ham or bacon. To say the least I was blown away. The food was delicious. And there was a little jam tasting going on as one farmer has begun to dabble in a variety of raspberries and is now making jam. What a wonderful group of people we have met. And they all live in our area, which is a big bonus. Two of the farmers who live a few miles north of us have an apple orchard and keep bees. We drive by their house every day and finally get to meet them. Charles told us that Viola Township is actually quite a progressive little community. He and his partner, David are the other vegetarians. I cannot express my gratitude and excitement enough! Can you tell? Anyway, I just wanted to share some brightness as we struggle through this most recent winter storm and dreaming about Spring. We got about 4 inches of snow last night.
