Check out his Super Bowl menu. I'm suddenly very hungry!

Get Back to veggies

And then there's Super Bowl XXXIX half-time star Paul McCartney,

an animal-loving vegan, who was slated to rock the squeaky clean show

with a mix of Beatles and Wings hits including ``Drive My Car,'' ``Get

Back,'' ``Live and Let Die'' and ``Hey Jude.''

Sir Paul is such a virulent veggie he won't have any animal

products anywhere near him. This means that at his press conference at

the Jacksonville convention center the other day, all the leather had

to be cleared out of the room. The football he was toting was foam,

not pigskin.

Paul's room at the ritzy Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island was also

leather and animal-product free and his Super Bowl menu included: a

wild-mushroom salad with fresh herb dressing; creamy tofu hummus;

black bean and corn salad; fried green tomatoes with roasted peppers;

marinated grilled tofu steaks with fresh tomato and red onion salsa;

an eggplant casserole with shredded vegan cheese; brown rice and baby

organic veggies. There was organic fruit with sweet soy yogurt for

dessert.

'Cause when it comes to animals, the ex-Beatle just can't Let It Be.

Hey, gang -

I'm Ragnhild in Norway, mostly in lurk-mode... just wanted to say that when I

went to a concert with Paul McCartney this summer - June 14th to be specific,

in Oslo, Norway - there were vegetarianism and veganism fliers and brochures

handed out all over the place. kinda nice :)

=) I hope you enjoyed the concert!

I owe Paul & Linda my veganism... Hubby and I went to a concert in

Frankfurt Germany about 11 years ago, and went vegetarian that night...

so just think all those fliers just might work!!

did he have the slide show thing on while he played ??

=)

Hi, Jenni -

yep, I really enjoyed the concert, it was awesome! :) Great music, great

performance - and I finally got to see my hero *live*!

but no, no slide show.. I think I've heard of this, maybe from his last tour

or something (when he didn't come to Norway..) A lot about whaling and stuff,

right? (..maybe a bit " risky " to do that in Norway..though he totally has my

sympathies for showing the cruelties in it to the people!) Am I remembering

right?
