Guest guest
How about the Chinese crested hairless dog? A woman I worked with had two of those and said they are an allergy free pet. I'm not sure though. Because they have low hair and less " fur-like " hair, they apparently do not produce or spread around that allergy- causing dander as much as " regular fur " dogs. Plus, I've heard that both whippets and greyhounds are generally a very gentle and quiet dog, not at all aggressive, and make a good family dog - they just like to run! Might I suggest that you contact a few veterinarians in your area and ask them about allergy-low dog breeds? No doubt they run across this kind of problem often, and might have some suggestions for you. Also, there might be organizations for people who need information on pets they can have when allergies and asthma are an issue. And perhaps you can find a vet or organization to " lend " you a whippet and greyhound for a test spin to see how your son reacts to them. Good luck and I hope you are successful in finding a good pet for your family! Cheers, Kathy --- Melissa wrote: > > However, I wondered if all you animal people new about asthma and > pets. He has continues to react to cats, so we know it is an issue for him. So now we are raising plants and fish...nice, but > not cats! The kids and my hubby really miss a more interactive pet - and the doc says rodents & birds are out, too. Do any of you know a more allergy safe/asthma safe dog?? I've heard that poodles are good?? As much as I'd rather a cat, we simply cannot do that > > Thought I'd see if you guys had any ideas? > > m
