All through grade school my very best friend was from Japan. No one took time

to get to know her but I sure did and I had a lot of fun at her house. I used

to eat rice cakes, drink green tea and have the best tofu dishes in L.A. and

never shared this info with anyone. I used to make sushi rice at age 12. Now

all this is popular and we have found out how good they are for us especially

with the vegetarian diet.

I like tofu most anyway - I press it before using, give a quick boil

or I freeze it - depends on the recipe. My kids have all always

liked it too - it was a first food for all of them...they loved

chasing it around on their trays! We love it marinated and

shishkabobbed in the summer!

Tempeh - eh...I don't really like it at all. Don't care for the

texture and the taste is too, sort of intense and off, for me.

I like seitan though!

Funny how different tastes can be, isn't it?
