Guest guest Posted January 9, 2005 Report Share Posted January 9, 2005 I just made another batch of seitan, and it has turned out fantastic:) It was SOOOOO cool watching it turn from weat dough to wheat gluten ight before my eyes:) If none of you have ever made it from scratch - I HIGHLY recommend it!!! I also calculated the cost difference. I made three pounds of seitan this afternoon in only about three hours - I spent $5.96 on the ingredients. I'm showing my age a bit;) But it really was SO cool:) I have a veggie friend who's going to come over one night soon for a seitan-making party:) She loves it but has never tried making it. Today, I seasoned two of the three pounds I made - one is seasoned with fresh rosemary, and the other is garlic/black pepper:) I made one plain so I'd know what it was like by the recipe. The recipe I chose today was from " The Vegan Planet " - a WONDERFUL Vegan cookbook with 400 recipes in it:) I can hardly wait to make the seitan ruben now!!!
