Guest guest
I'm still interesting in your Thai sauce recipe....... please I will use it with my rick stick noodles and veggies.........Thanks, Donna Maria/Chanda <puterwitch wrote:thanks Melissa, ok, now what is tamari, and don't say Monday....ar ar ar When you say some detest it some love it I think of garlic, my dad forbed it in the house when I was a kid, and I just couldn't ever see why cause it's my most favorite cooking aroma. I don't know what tamari is. Is it sweet? blessings, Chanda/Maria - melissa_hopp Sunday, January 09, 2005 1:11 AM Re: Health Alert For Vegans , " Maria/Chanda " <puterwitch@c...> wrote: > umm Melissa, > what is marmite, LOL, excuse my newness, > Blessings, > Maria/Chanda > All I know is it is yeast extract. It is a pasty black substance, that I suppose you could say tastes sort of like tamari if you made it a paste. I have been told by those I've cajoled into trying it (those who've not had it & can get beyond the smell, which oddly some just detest, personally I think it is glorious) that it is an acquired taste. I think marmite is stronger than vegemite - which I think may have more veggies added? It is marvelous on buttery toast - you spread it pretty thin. It is also nice as a sandwich spread - I like vegemite better as a sandwich & spread it a bit thicker. It is not at all well known in the US, though I can find it at local stores...though you never know where, cuz I don't think they know what it is! International stores will have it. Which makes me think of this...do any of you have as much fun as I do at regular grocery stores stumping the checker?? I buy things I think are typical, like kale, parsnips, seitan, etc...but so often the checkout kid has no idea what it is! m
