Guest guest
Hi All, Re GMO's, I don't want GMO's in my food. I wrote to Sanitarium, Uncle Toby's and Kellogs telling them they should label their breakfast cereals if they are GMO free. I buy breakfast cereals labeled GMO free (Meusli and another one that is bran flakes and sultana). I too worry about the " Longa life tomatoes " which had the fish genes put into them to prolong shelf life. In New Zealand, I believe they were putting human genes into cows to make cows milk less harmful to humans or to add some attribute (the ethics? Does that now mean those cows are part human so to eat them would make you a cannibal?). I don't believe there are a lot of GMO veges in Australia yet. I wouldn't know whether organic means no GMO in the vegetables but rather, doesn't it refer to non-use of pesticides and herbicides etc? Kind regards, Bunny
Guest guest
True that organics doesnt mean GMO free but less suspect... oregan is known for organic farms so it's not an issue. I shop in healthfood stores mostly but they also sell OG in common stores. I am proud of you for writing those letters too. I have written a few letters over the years and it's always nice when your concerns are acknowledged. You are planting seeds. I know that Australia has a terrible track record with cattle practices which have messed with the ecology of N Australia. I hadnt heard about genetics but guess they're competing with the States. Now the resistance is breaking down in the UK. Hopefully the Purity Food Act in places like Germany will be steadfast. It is weird to me that they are combining plant and animal genes... The food supply continues to be tampered with in the name of science and having enough. In the meantime, chemicals pollute our environment and our foods.
