It seems someone is always bashing tofu...I remember a while back

some study said it can cause problems in kids brains if they eat too

much. My mother gave me such grief...which reminds me, Amy, some

people simply won't accept that some of us don't eat bloody things &

there is no reasoning... It worries me when I read these things

because part of the reason we eat vegetarian is for health & I

really strive to feed my kids well. However, my kids have all loved

tofu and eaten plenty of it and seem to be okay - no brain problems

(in fact the boys are both quite bright, my daughter is not two yet)

and no health issues, though I've not had their bone density tested.

 

When we were recently in China, we found plenty of non meat dishes

with tofu...plain steamed tofu was readily available for small

children.

 

On the miso soup topic - check the ingredients - many miso soups

contain bonito flakes...that's fish!
