Guest guest
Ovo-lacto, currently. I have been a no-fish macro and am now trying, once again, to move away from my dairy and egg consumption. I am very lucky to be able to get dairy and eggs from well-treated, local chickens, cows, and goats that I can visit. Thank you, all, for allowing me to share in this group. I am a 40-year old male living with his partner and rabbit in West Lafayette, Indiana--not a hotbed of vegetarianism, even with the nearby university. I have been a vegetarian for 24 years. I love to cooks, especially the spicier Asian cuisines, and look forward to sharing recipes and good times with the group.
Guest guest
I guess I am Ovo-lacto, since I drink milk and occassionally eat eggs. I love milk and have since I was a kid. I moved back to Colorado in June of 2003 after spending three years recuperating from colon cancer in Iowa. I became a total vegetarian at the request of my doctor in Iowa after trying a couple of times before. I tell you, it was extremely difficult being vegetarian in a small town in Iowa. Every time I go visit my family, the first question is " what can you eat " , so I give them some options and tell them it isn't hard. I can't stand the smell of cooking flesh now, but I have to keep quiet about that since my brother-in-law raises pigs. I was just there in June and he proudly presented my parents with a bunch of pork. I used to love pork chops and my dad asked if I wanted one and I said no, absolutely not. I don't want to be around anything with a face if people are eating it any more. They've asked what I had for Thanksgiving. I had Quorn's turkey roast. Being veggie here is easy. There are so many good stores that even the big chains have to carry vegetarian food. Linda On Mon, 29 Nov 2004 17:00:32 -0000, monkeytoe64 <monkeytoe64 wrote: > > > Ovo-lacto, currently. Guest guest
Vegan, 9 years, veggie, 14. Do eat honey though since it's been mentioned, though I can be convinced not to. Veronica
Guest guest
Why Honey is not vegan. Long article http://www.vegetus.org/honey/honey.htm Following a vegan diet is different than being a vegan. Vegan is a term that means that your moral lifestyle cares for all living things. So that would mean that you use no animal products. Following a vegan diet means you don't eat animal products. A vegan diet is for your health benefit while being a vegan is for the benefit of living creatures. Yes, some beekeepers kill off their hives in the winter time and some kill the queen bee to increase the production of honey. The queen is killed and replaced once a year or every other year. , Diamond Dog <diamonddog@g...> wrote: > Vegan, 9 years, veggie, 14.
