Sixteen miles in, on the most harrowing dirt road you can imagine---switchbacks,

blind curves with only one lane---down into the canyon at the bottom of the most

enchanting forest you can imagine...a creek of cobalt grey/blue, with icy water

runs down the basin of the canyon.... The ladies who run it are very

business-like, yet warm enough...intelligence seems to abound...the people

working there are very grounded(there's no electricity except for the genny

running the freezer), 'very aware of their blessed-status to be in such a

wonderful place.... One can even take part in the sulphur-spring baths for a

day-use rate, however the freedom to use them comes from being an overnight

guest.... I find it an irresistable getaway, though I've only visited in the

day and sat in the baths once....

Gil

P.S. It's fairly-near Big Sur[my favourite place on earth(so far, I've never

been to Corsica, which I plan to do)---and I've visited Hawaii and the

Yucatan...tropical paradises]...I highly suggest setting aside time to be in Big

Sur(Esalen is there too---that's one place I still want to visit) for awhile

if/when you go to Tassajara Springs....
