Quorn roasts have a texture that I find much more palatable, and the colour is MUCH nicer as well (tofurkey just looked grey, while quorn was white and browned nicely in the oven). The tofurkey gravy, though, was wonderful, and unlike many vegetarian gravies it didn’t have mushroom (I’m allergic). I enjoyed the cranberry apple potato dumplings too. Unfortunately, the stores I shop in carry the “kits” and the individual tofurkeys, but don’t seem to have the gravy and dumplings separately. -- Sherri A conclusion is simply the place where you got tired of thinking. Guest guest
Funny, I had quite a different experience! I found the Quorn roast to be really tough. I also didn't like the preparation method- I am not comfortable with cooking something in plastic until the plastic turns brown and crispy. Can you say " carcinogens " ? I have noticed that when you compare the ingredients in Quorn products, the ones that have less mycoprotein seem to be more tender. That's why the cutlets are so tender- they have other proteins supplementing. The Quorn roast is about 80% mycoprotein. The Quorn roast is also pretty expensive, for something so tiny. All in all, I was disappointed, but at least I tried it so now I know I thought the dumplings were ok, and certainly an improvement over those horrible " drumsticks " that used to come with the tofurkey. But I hope that next year they do better. - Priscilla --- Sherri <sherria wrote: > > > I’ve switched from tofurkey to Quorn roasts, > personally.
